"Singing in a style that draws on the best Irish singers/ storytellers, JP Ryan shows a literate talent and creativity that bodes well for years to come."
Lonesome Highway
Irish singer-songwriter JP Ryan crafts an evocative, deeply grounded sound rooted in the rich traditions of Irish folk, adult contemporary, and pop storytelling. Defined by literate lyricism and nuanced arrangements, Ryan's artistry is driven by an extraordinary level of physical resilience – having to re-learn his selected instruments with subsequent custom tunings after severe hand trauma that saw him lose fifty per cent of his hand mechanics post-reconstructive surgery. After a lengthy hiatus of many years, he has recently returned to the stage as a solo performer, with October 2026 marking the release of his new live EP, JP Ryan Live at the Imperial Hall, recorded in the Czech Republic and capturing an intimate performance in a historic setting.
A seasoned performer who has opened for international legends like Rod Stewart, Ryan has also collaborated in the studio with prominent industry veterans and worked on Nashville arrangements with award-winning songwriter Thomm Jutz alongside a lineup of Grammy-winning musicians – Mark Fain, Justin Moses, and Lynn Williams. His discography features releases like 'Wheel of Life', 'Black is the Colour', and 'Home' – a seasonal favourite that receives regular Irish radio airplay each Christmas.
